Volunteers Needed
The success of our store will depend largely on volunteers like you. The more volunteers we have to staff the store the more hours we can be open. Should you have any questions please contact us at 594-2255.

The Humane Society of Schuyler County was an all volunteer, not-for-profit, 501 C-3 organization dedicated to advancing animal welfare since 1987. Upon taking on the responsibility of the Schuyler County Animal Shelter we have hired staff to manage the facility. We provide low-cost spay/neuter services for the dogs and cats of income eligible residents of Schuyler County, operate a trap-neuter-return program, manage a cat adoption program, and distribute pet food for needy families. Our programs are funded primarily through donation, grant and our fundraising efforts.
We opened a thrift boutique at 29 North Franklin Street in Watkins Glen to provide our community with quality, gently used items and to help us reach our goal of building a permanent shelter to house homeless cats and dogs. The success of our store will depend largely on our volunteers. The more volunteers we have to staff the store the more hours we will be open.
If you would like to make a donation, we welcome clean, gently used, name brand clothing (no rips, no tears, no stains), furniture, antiques, jewelry, or home decorating items. All donations are tax deductible. Please make arrangements for donations by calling ahead.
Due to our limited space we need to be restrictive about the items we take in.
- We welcome your gently used, clean clothing, but we cannot accept lingerie.
- Due to the recent changes in laws we can not accept children’s toys
We try to restrict our inventory to good quality higher dollar items to pay our rent and to make a profit!
We will be accepting donations by appointment (594-2255). Please leave a message and someone will return your call. All donations are tax deductible.
The store will be staffed entirely by volunteers as is the rest of our operation. If you are interested in volunteering a couple hours a week please contact us at 594-2255. We’d really welcome your help!
